I picked all my teams when I was really young and just stuck with 'em. The Birds came first, of all my teams in any sport, but eventually I ended up falling for the Browns during the Brian Sipe and Bernie Kosar era Dawg Pound Browns.
Usually it was cool mascots, or colors. So, ya know, that awesome Eagle and then the best uniforms in all of football with that pumpkin helmet. |

I just don't want fucking 5.
You don't? Really? OK, but just know this. With that defense, that OL, and AP on your team, Donovan would win the SB within the next three years. Guaranteed. It's honestly not even a question in my mind. I'd bet that future every year until it happened. Injury and losing your DC are pretty much the only variables I see there. Donovan's problems have forever been a lack of WRs and a consistent running game. Well, between Harvin and Rice he'd have talent on the outside and with AP he'd have the best back in football right now. Add to that a great OL and a dominant DL and you'll find secondary help in the draft or free agency. It would happen, not even a little doubt in my mind. |

I know 5 is an immideate upgrade over everyone who isnt favre on this roster, but I still don't want him. Even with the best Philly teams he hasn't gotten a Ship. And dude is getting old, and I think his best days are behind him. We have serious issue's in our secondary, I'm not sure if its the players or the scheme, but the secondary has always been a weak part of our defense....until that changes were not winning shit. |

Honestly that's fine if we draft a pike/colt etc qb of the future. Like I said above I have faith in the front office and the way they draft

Diner morning news: How Eagles can close the gap
A Kolb-Rogers trade with the Browns is a win for both teams. Michael Lombardi QUOTE: “Every man in the world is better than someone else and not as good as someone else.” -- William Saroyan When Mike Holmgren first went to Green Bay in 1992, the first personnel action the organization took was to make a trade for quarterback Brett Favre. Even though Favre was drafted in the second round, Packers GM Ron Wolf and Holmgren both thought enough of him to part with a first-round pick to acquire him from the Falcons. Then, when Holmgren moved to Seattle, he took some time before he made another trade for a quarterback, acquiring Matt Hasselbeck from his former team, the Packers. Hasselbeck was originally a sixth-round pick, but Holmgren was more than willing to pay a first-rounder for his rights because he knew the centerpiece of the organization had to be the quarterback. Now, with Holmgren in Cleveland and again faced with uncertainty at quarterback, the question remains: What will he do at quarterback? Is the draft an option, or is making a trade? I’m not sure the draft is a viable option for the Browns, based on the talent available. With all the recent speculation, it appears that trade rumors are running rampant in Cleveland, many centering on the Philadelphia Eagles. The Birds have two quarterbacks (Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb) who may be of interest to Holmgren and his new general manager, Tom Heckert, who also came from Philadelphia. In spite of all the talk, it would be hard for me to imagine that McNabb would not agree to a contract extension to join the Browns, nor would it be hard to imagine the Browns would trade for McNabb without an extension. So that leads me to believe if the Browns have interest in an Eagles quarterback, it would have to center mostly on Kolb. Heckert loved Kolb when he was in Philadelphia, was responsible for drafting him and can accurately describe him to Holmgren with regard to work habits, character and, most important, his potential as a full-time starter. So what’s Kolb worth? I’m sure if the Browns offered their first-round pick, the seventh overall, they would get the Eagles’ full attention. But do they have to offer that much? Better yet, is Kolb worth that much? The Eagles might say that’s not enough, but they also once said they’d never take less than a two for Lito Sheppard, so we know if the Browns offered that pick, the deal is done. I strongly doubt that will happen, but what if the Browns offered Pro Bowl nose tackle Shaun Rogers for Kolb? Don’t laugh. This kind of deal would allow the Eagles to close the gap between them and the Cowboys. Even Eagles president Joe Banner admitted Tuesday in his talk with the team’s Web site that there’s a gap. Here’s what he said: “I don’t think the difference is as dramatic as one may think just looking at the scores of those two games, but there is a gap there. We have to figure out how to close that gap and be ready to go next year.” For me, the gap is in the Eagles defense, specifically their front seven where, other than Trent Cole, they don’t have a player who can win a one-on-one matchup against the Cowboys’ line. Rogers would be a gap closer on the field. He would give the Eagles a dominating inside player, something they don’t currently have on their roster and someone who can match up with the Cowboys’ size along their offensive line. Rogers is signed to a long-term deal, he’s kept his weight down and he was a model citizen in Cleveland last season — all of which would be appealing to the Eagles. Kolb gives the Browns a future quarterback, something Holmgren knows he needs, without having to part with a draft pick. This trade might be a win/win for both teams. If the Eagles add Rogers and then sign potential free agent defensive end Julius Peppers of the Panthers (they were not a final-eight team, so they can sign anyone), they would do more that close the gap on the Cowboys -- they would pass them. The Eagles will be one of the teams pursuing Peppers since his kind of game would fit perfectly with their defense and give them a blue-chip front seven player. If the Eagles make these two moves, they’ll be a final four team next season, regardless of what they do in the draft. In fact, they can use the draft to help them find a young quarterback to replace the departed Kolb. They know they must close the gap, which is the first step. These moves make sense to me. What do you think? |

Won't happen. Both Rogers and Peppers are old. This team's getting younger, not older. Not to memtion Rogers shines because he's in a 3-4. Don't get me wrong, he's a big body and a good talent, but he's the anchor of that DL there. The Browns are more likely to ride him until the wheels fall off than trade him unless they're going to completely retool their defense--in which case you'd want to trade him to a 3-4 team for maximum value.
But we do need to close the gap in the trenches vs. the Cowboys, that's beyond doubt. |

and 20 seconds later, the guy debunks his whole article
well, hes got all his bases covered i guess geoffmosher A league source just informed me that reports of the #Eagles offering a contract extension to Kevin Kolb are "ridiculously false." less than a minute ago from web |

Now hes really got it all covered:
geoffmosher Where there's smoke, there's fire. Report of Kolb extension is being called "ridiculously false" could be smoke screen .... 3 minutes ago from web geoffmosher ... designed to make sure neither side ruffles the feathers as the team could be looking to maintain leverage for McNabb trade 2 minutes ago from web geoffmosher If it's out there that Kolb has an extension, McNabb's trade value could diminsh since teams would know the Eagles have to trade him. 2 minutes ago from web |

This is my main problem with 'new media'
theres so much bullshit out there because theres no repercussions or anything for being wrong. so people just throw anything and everything out there and hope something sticks. if it does, theyre a genius and broke the story, if not...oh well...no one notices/cares if theyre wrong anyway |

I would like the Eagles to make a run at Dansby. He could play middle or strong side pending on how Bradley bounces back from his injury. Witherspoon, White, and Jordan would all vie for time at weak side LB.

The Cardinals are expected to release FS Antrel Rolle this week. The sides have been negotiating a contract extension, but cutting Rolle will allow the Cards to avoid paying his impending $4 million roster bonus. It may also very well cost them their starting free safety. Rolle will become an unrestricted free agent and generate interest because of his play-making ability. The 27-year-old has 10 interceptions over the past three years. Source: azcardinals.com |

Y'all know T.O. is looking for employment...
T.O. patches things up with a former quarterback Posted by Mike Florio on February 22, 2010 2:58 PM ET As Bills receiver Terrell Owens edges toward his third trip to the open market in four years, he seems to have found a way to bury the hatchet with one of the quarterbacks whom he inevitably disrespected. According to the New York Post, T.O. recently told Michael Kay of YES Network's CenterStage that Owens and Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb have made amends, to an extent. "I can honestly say I appreciate those years and Donovan and I are friends and, actually we were just hanging out last night as a matter of fact," Owens said. "So it was one of those things where -- again -- it started off well, it didn't end well. Sometimes, I wish it could have ended on a positive note." Wow. Owens apparently has forgotten that it ended on a bad note because he wanted the Eagles to rip up his contract less than a year after he had signed it and, when they refused, he decided to create as many problems as possible in the hopes that the Eagles would eventually dump him. Along the way, T.O. mixed it up with McNabb, prompting the quarterback eventually to describe Owens' antics as "black-on-black crime." So while it's good that they're getting along, Owens needs to take responsibility for the fact that McNabb was an innocent victim of the reign of terror aimed at getting T.O. out of Philly. |

It's days like this when I hate Andy Reid and this organization.
Yeah, I knew at some point this would happen, but the way this team will throw away guys like BDawk and Westbrook bugs the s**t out of me. Now, I say this not seeing the press conference or whatever. Still, it bugs me and now we need another RB of some kind to spell Shady. |

I'm not sure the pointlessness of doing that could be overstated. On the upside he'd have a true, good FB again. On the downside, he's further past his prime than Westbrook right now and he's always struggled for short yardage. |

Joe, I understand how you feel, but this is how the Eagles have stayed ahead of the game for so long. BDawk started this past season well with the Broncs, but he really faded towards the end of the year, showing his age and seriously deteriorated coverage skills. I actually think Westbrook has more left to give than BDawk did when he left, but no way in shit hell would the Igs (or any other team in the league, for that matter) pay Westbrook to play 7 games next year 2 steps slower than he has been.
Had to happen, Shady's ready, they can get a suitable backup through the draft or for 1/3 of the cost of Westbrook through free agency. The NFL is a business, and this type of shit happens all the time in the corporate world. No reason it shouldn't happen in the league. |

I agree with both you and JG, although I certainly wouldn't say Westbrook wasn't doing his job. I get that this is how the Birds do it, it just bugs me. But you are right, this is how they stay just good enough to not win it all, there's no denying that. |
