    Default Best Sandwich spot?

It is a long running gag in my Company about how much I hate Subway sandwiches. I hate them because they are the lowest quality sandwich I have ever eaten on a consistent basis. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how they stay in business other than the fact they cannot be spending much on their food costs. It isn't that I don't like flavorless pressed meats, crumbly bread, brown avocado, unwashed lettuce with dirt in it or figure head that is a pedophile of sorts, it is that there are so many other better sandwich places. How do you pass on any of those other spots to go to a SUBstandardWAY?

So what is your favorite sandwich spot and why? Jersey mike's? jimmy johns? Port of Subs? which which? Pot belly, firehouse? who?
Your beliefs don't make you a better person. Your behavior does.

Subway is trash but I do end up there sometimes and can at least get shit load of veggies on a sandwich.

Mr. Goodcents is great if you are in KS or I think CA.

Lenny's is very good, first had it in Memphis Airport.

Basically if they cut the meat fresh you're already ahead of Subway.

For a chain I prefer Mr Goodcents but only a couple in town here...toasted subs I like Cheba Hut

Hate Firehouse (skimpy on the meat and the sandwich just tastes like a loaf of bread)

Jimmy Johns is good, not a big Jersey Mikes fan, Port of Subs is quietly consistent and solid.

Rinaldi's is great but it's a deli, don't know if that counts...they have several here, don't know if it's just local or not

As for Subway, I'd rather eat my hand

Blimpie I like but haven't been in a minute, the sweet peppers are a great condiment that seem to be exclusive to them

Which Wich, Lenny's. Jimmy Johns, Panera.
    I actually like Firehouse Club.

If you are ever in Nashville .... Noshville is great and they have one in the airport if you have to grab something quick between flights or have a layover.

Subway suxs. Nothing Fresh about it. Which is unfortunate because I have a neighbor that owns 3 stores and offers me free food all the time. I will eat their breakfast sandwich on flat bread

I'm not sure how people like Jersey Mikes. I took one bite and was concerned. I took another bite and spit it in my napkin. A buddy I used to work with couldn't eat it either and he can eat anything.

We usually go jimmy johns or firehouse. Nothing to write home about.

I thought I broke a tooth one time eating Jersey Mikes, bread always seems 3 days old. The pepper relish is good, but if you don't get fresh bread (maybe got it a couple times) it's not edible

well people go to Subway because they don't want to spend $15 for lunch, same reason why people still eat at McDonalds and Burger King

Maybe its better because I live in Jersey? No idea about their distribution channels. My dad knows the founder though.

I have had Potbelly's a few times in MD and thats damn good for hot sandwiches but im trying to think of the best cold cut sandwich.... i'd rather make my own at home tbh

I'd probably go Jersey Mike's, Cousins (Wisky/Zona after closing a decent amount of places), Jimmy Johns, Subway for me and I really can't handle any of them. I would eat a Subway breakfast sandwich, nothing different than getting something from a gas station. Both Jersey Mikes and Cousins do a lot of buy 1 get 1 free coupons so can get lunch for Shaker and I for like $10. Might get them a handful of times a year.

I would put Pot Belly's in a different category above all of them though, but then I only get hot subs from them (which I prefer much more than cold subs). I also love the Bobbie at Capriotti's right about now with Thanksgiving coming up. Cheesesteaks aren't too bad there either. Never been to Firehouse or Which Wich but both are now in the Milwaukee/Madison areas.

It stinks because of the different areas you guys live in, but if you ever get close to the "jersey shore" go stop at Brennan's Deli, only 2 shops, but it's amazing

    Wawa > Quickcheck/Subway (also a location thing I believe)

    Don't mind jersey mikes

I'm fairly certain any city's local spots will crush a chain in overall quality.

If you are ever so fortunate to be in buffalo

Spar's is a sausage spot that specializes in european sausages but also make the best double smoked bacon. House cured/smoked deli meats top of the line. The sandwiches are no frills- bread (only one type of roll), choice of meat, cheese and mustard (they have a couple) that's it. about $8 but the size is enormous.
